The bus driver, a 50-year-old Spaniard, passed both breath and alcohol tests.

Initial reports pointed to the dead man being on the road when he was hit.

It was not immediately clear where he was heading to on foot when he was run over and killed.

He had no ID on him when he was struck but Civil Guard officers are said to have managed to establish his identity and inform his relatives early this morning.
