The 54-year-old actress has won praise for her portrayal of a mother who is trying to protect herself and her two children from a mysterious entity that drives people to suicide.

Speaking to People magazine alongside her co-star Sarah Paulson, the mother-of-two has now confessed that she hates to be scared.

She told the publication: “I don’t like to be scared. I hate being scared. I hate, hate people who think it’s funny to stand behind doors and scare you because they know that you hate being scared.”

Sarah referenced Ellen DeGeneres, who regularly pranks her guests with scares when they appear on her US chat show.

Sandra jokingly replied: “Horrible human being. I don’t know why I keep going on her show. She’s a horrible human being for that.

“No, she knows not to do it with me. She does it to you because you’re funny when you’re scared.”

In the terrifying movie, Sandra plays Malorie – a woman who is trying to prevent her two children and herself from seeing an entity that takes the form of people’s worst fears, driving them mad enough to take their own lives.

The characters must remain blindfolded in order to protect themselves, with star Chrissy Teigen taking to Twitter earlier this week to reveal that Bird Box had left her with horrifying nightmares.
